Ministry of Consolation

It is the goal of the Community of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene that no member should suffer the loss of a loved one in isolation. To that end, we are pleased to offer a variety of ongoing supportive and pastoral services for the bereaved through our Pastoral Counseling Ministry. These services include:

  • Bi-annual Bereavement Support Groups (dates to be announced)
  • Monthly “Drop-In” Support Group Sessions
  • Individual Bereavement Counseling by a Licensed Therapist
  • Routine Contact by Telephone and by Mail, as desired
  • Regular Bulletin/Website Articles on Various Aspects of Grief and Loss
    (www.stmarymagonline.org/PastoralCounselor.html)
  • Routine Mailings of Pertinent Articles & Upcoming Events Related to
    Loss and Bereavement
  • Information & Referral to Community Services for the Bereaved

All services are free of charge and are available to parishioners or any family member who is facing the loss of a loved one. It is our hope that, through these pastoral and supportive services, those suffering loss may come to know the loving support of community and may never find the need to suffer their loss in isolation.
